About us

With the establishment of its own Digital Collection (German), the Württemberg State Library set itself the goal of making its collections of valuable manuscripts and printed works, as well as rare materials of regional importance, available for use worldwide with a minimized impact on resources. Our digitization and presentation processes meet the currently applicable standards, as described in the latest version of the DFG Practical Guidelines on Digitisation.
The complex library business is supported and controlled with the aid of workflow software. For this, the WLB uses the open source application Kitodo. This workflow software links and automates library tasks and technical processes, generating the copies in our in-house digitization workshop on the basis of a catalogue entry in the SWB and preparing them for presentation on the Internet.
