Art Reading Room
The Art Reading Room offers approx. 11,700 volumes of literature relating to the history of art and architecture for use on the premises. These volumes are freely accessible and arranged systematically.
The works available include reference works, such as lexicons, dictionaries and handbooks, covering the fine arts, architecture and photography. You will also find source materials, museum and collection catalogues, Festschrifts and conference reports. We also offer selected literature and overviews of topics relating to the history of art and architecture, individual periods, genres and countries. Furthermore, extensive microfiche archives, such as the Marburger Index, can be used in the Art Reading Room.
Catalogues
- Online catalogue:
Look up the location of a work in the reading room if you know the author and/or title, or conduct an interdisciplinary search for a specific topic. - Systematic catalogue:
Use this overview to find out how the collection is arranged in the reading room and what literature is available on the individual topics.
Special collections
The collection of literature on artistic glasswork (Figura glass library) and the collection of literature on dance and ballet (Niles/Leslie collection) are also held in the Art Reading Room.
