The Bible collection of the Württemberg State Library is highly regarded, both within Germany and abroad, in many respects.
We provide information about printed Bible editions: text layout, translation features, text criticism, accompanying texts (so-called paratexts), such as commentaries, glosses and summaries, but particularly also illustrations, as well their historic and denominational background. In the case of incomplete copies, as many family-owned copies are, we attempt to identify the precise edition, aided by the fact that we have the most comprehensive collection far and wide, and provide corresponding files or printouts from our reprographic facilities (photographic departments). The library's restoration department does not take on private work. We can, however, point you towards numerous specialized book binders and restorers in the individual regions.
